Suffocation (Pt. 2)

from Here It Is by Tay and the JangLahDahs

/
  • Compact Disc (CD) + Digital Album

    Here It Is:
    A Chronicle
    An aural collection of classics
    A great communal Effort.
A Labor of Love over half a decade.
A voice to intensity, anxiety and disaster
    Production in the Present
    Post-Production of the Past
    Evidence of what was,
A Birth as well as A Death
    Solidified within this book
    A window to the souls
    what love created:
Here we are, and Here we e’er will be.

Forever grateful to each individual involved in the making of this album.
Here It is: is dedicated to you and the legacy of Ruben Gonzales.

about

Suffocation (Pt. 2)
Here It Is: Suffocation

Fires did not stop there, no.
They kept going.
For a while, worse each year.
This one quicker... this one bigger by the tenfolds! Destruction.

The Bay Area was surrounded many miles each direction by flames. Smoke gathered above our heads for around 150 miles for three months. The months of smoke happened before we had that one day during year and a half of shelter in place that the world had an orange filter, and after the trailer with all of the bands gear got stuck with a flat tire on the side of the highway home the evening of the first PG&E shut down the moment when Eric plugged in his keyboard to begin a show that was set up to be shut down by PG&E from their first major county black out.
So, Therefore:
Here It Is: Suffocation.
This song birthed on a special upright grand piano-
then quilted together by three of us.
This area was not filtered, Ac’d or fanned-
It was in the air and around,
Normal existence as if things weren’t so after a while.
The shelves of the stores ran out of masks and people were still standing 8 hours outside for work because... well, you have to work.
I would imagine how bad it would be to be outside sleeping
day to day a consistent 3 am worst AQI point.

It’s going down your lungs
It's going in your tongue
It's going through your brain.
It’s happening anyways.

Here it Is; Suffocation and this is THAT feeling.

lyrics

Smoke drifting in the air
No matter if you want it
Hopes we all try to breath in
No other option there
only to escape its presence
Oh no (x2)

Its going in your lungs
Its going down your tongue
Its going through your brain
It’s happening anyways!

Impurify your lungs
No ceiling fans
Or propped out windows
To leave the air in.
It's not carin'… Will it be okay?

Hesitating. Hovering over your head.

No one protects themselves
Masks selling off the shelves
They’re breathing in that black cold air!
They’re going by the head
Goin’ for money spent
They can’t take care of themselves

Sitting out on the street looking out for things to eat
They can’t escape it in just a tent
Worst time at 3 am
Breathin' in that black cold air

Its going in your lungs
Its going down your tongue
Its going through your brain
It’s happening anyways.
